The Largest of the Basic Ebb & Flood Kit is ideal for the real Ebb & Flood enthusiast.
Ebb and Flood is so successful because it gives great opportunity to vary the watering (and hence nutrition) cycle and unlike most other hydroponic systems the roots of your plants are not, in most cases, immediately visible so it is most important to understand what is happening so the correct decision on operating the system is made.
In Ebb and Flood the growing medium is periodically flooded. During this process any residue of the previous flood will be redissolved in the nutrient solution so that the nutrient solution remaining in the medium after the drain (ebb) does not become stale, precipitated or over concentrated (if you try growing a plant in an ordinary pot this is the reason why performance is so often disappointing).
Also, because all the free draining moisture is removed from the root area on the ebb, vast amounts of air which of course contain essential oxygen is drawn in around the roots.
Nutriculture's Ebb & Flood Systems are perfect for growers who want to develop specimen plants or accommodate a plant throughout its entire life cycle. In an Ebb & Flood system the table of the system is filled with medium and is periodically flooded with a nutrient solution, it is then allowed to flow away. The plant gets everything it requires as the roots are invigorated and their best performance is encouraged, in terms of growth, water and nutrient uptake. Oxygen is delivered directly to the root system and drawn in by the water flowing away.
These systems are extremely versatile and offer the maximum amount of control to the grower. You can fill the planter with any kind of medium or simply grow in pots placed into the planter.
So, why use an Ebb & Flood System?
Low maintenance.
Suitable for pots and buckets
Easy access to pump and nutrient.
Interlocking tank & tray for stability.
Low-level system to maximize headroom.
And what are the advantages of using these systems?
Gives the same increased yield and performance obtainable with other hydroponic systems.
A healthy, airy root environment.
Plants can be transferred to a ebb & flood system at any stage and without removing compost etc from the root system.
Specimen plants may be maintained in a ebb & flood system for years
